What is the MFA Residency?

The program provides hybrid courses that allow for a combination of synchronous and asynchronous online learning with a required multiple-day residency each semester. The residency enables students to study with highly-acclaimed international and national experts in the communication design field. Furthermore, it provides in-person educational and community-building opportunities that enhance the flexibility of the online learning experience.

Guest Designers

Guest designers join each residency to lead workshops and deliver keynote lectures about their work. Recent guests include the Radius Collective (composed of Joshua Duttweiler, Padmini Chandrasekaran, James Barkley, Christopher Field, Molly Haig, and Kristen Mallia); Lope Gutierrez Ruiz of In House International Creative; Christopher and Kathleen Sleboda of Draw Down Books; and designers Yocelyn Riojas, Karol Murlak, Shruthi Balakrishna, and Jimmy Luu.
